To get the capybara sound, the sound designer had to travel to the zoo and tickle the capybara
Synopsis
A cat is a solitary animal, but after its home is destroyed by a major flood, it finds refuge on a boat inhabited by different species and is forced to work together with them despite their differences. The team was very persistent in getting all the "voices" from real animals, so they recorded real animals for the film.
However, the real capybara sounds didn’t match the personality of the capybara character, so they used a baby camel for this
Until last year, I wasn’t particularly interested in films without dialogue, as I found them to be a bit boring and pretentious. This perception changed dramatically when I came across «Robot Dreams» at the Melbourne Film Festival last year, which quickly became my favorite film of all time.
"Flow" further solidified my appreciation for the genre
This experience opened my eyes to the depth and intrigue that dialogue-free storytelling can bring. This film tells the story of a cat whose life is upended by a massive flood, leading to an unexpected and touching alliance with a diverse group of animals: a capybara, a bird, a lemur, and a dog.
behavior and the interactions between them
The premise of the film is completely unique, unlike anything I’ve seen before, and it brings a fresh, original twist to the genre. What really stood out to me was the meticulous attention to detail in the depiction of each animal.
Each character had their own personality traits and quirks, making them memorable and endearing
The filmmakers clearly did extensive research to ensure the authenticity of each species’ characteristics, which translated into animations that were not only accurate but also incredibly engaging.
